Dry Cargo Residue Discharges in the Great Lakes

Here’s a news flash for those moving barges carrying dry bulk cargo on the Great Lakes: the Coast Guard has published an Interim Rule, with a request for comments (due by Jan. 15th, 2009), pertaining to the discharge of dry cargo residues. The restrictions on where the discharges may take place varies considerably depending on the cargo, and there’s a lot of lake-specific geographic information as well on pages 7-9 of the 10-page document.
